COUNSELING FOR INDIVIDUALS OR COUPLES
Getting to know you, really know you, is where our work begins.
No two people walk into my office carrying the same story. Everything we do together is built around you: your needs, your pace, your life.
I specialize in affirming, identity-competent care for people and couples who have struggled to find a provider who truly gets it.
Whether you're working through LGBTQIA+ experiences, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, family conflict, or major life transitions, I'm here to walk that path with you.
APPROACH
I work through a person-centered lense, focusing on each person as an individual. Most of my work is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Research shows that ACT is one of the most beneficial therapies to address minority stress and trauma. This allows us to do the work while staying true to your values and identity.
I also provide sex therapy for individuals and relationships. I am under supervision to be credentialed as an AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist. My work is kink-affirming and trauma informed.

THE SPACE
My office is a space where you don’t have to explain yourself before you can be supported — you're already welcome here, exactly as you are.
I also offer confidential telehealth sessions for those in Virginia.

I understand how difficult it can be to move through a world that is not designed for you.
As someone who is both neurodivergent and transgender, I understand how difficult it can be to find affirming, competent care. With me, you are seen, heard, and supported. Each and every person that comes into my office is unique, and our work together should reflect that.
I am a Resident in Counseling and practice under supervision. I am also under supervision to become an AASECT certified Sex Therapist with Brooke Croft, LMFT, CST, founder of Croftwell Therapy. I proudly hold memberships with organizations that are furthering equity and affirming care for LGBTQIA+ populations.
I graduated with my Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Clemson University, and my Master’s of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Winthrop University.

This is such an important question! Not all therapists will be what you're looking for, or feel like the right fit for your mental health needs. This is why I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to learn more about what therapy with me will look like, and to answer any questions you may have.

Whatever is said in session, stays in session.
If you are 18+ years old, I am required to get your signed consent before releasing any information to anyone.
For those that are under 18, your sessions are still confidential, but parents/caregivers will be given updates on goals and progress. Specific topics discussed in session will not be shared without your consent.
I am bound by HIPAA, meaning I cannot legally share any information regarding your care. However, there are some exceptions to this law. I am required to report to the authorities the following circumstances:
1) If I suspect that an individual may be involved in child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse,
2) If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person, and/or
3) If a client intends to harm themselves*
*I will do everything I can to work with you regarding your safety. However, if I deem that you are at serious risk based on clinical assessment, additional measures may need to be taken.

While I do not bill through insurance, I do offer superbills. Most clients see significant reimbursement.
Some questions to ask your insurance provider about Out of Network Mental Health Benefits:
What is my out-of-network deductible?
How much of my out-of-network deductible has already been met?
What is my policy period?
What is my co-insurance?
(If they ask for a CPT code: Individual Sessions = 90834, Couples Sessions = 90847)
How do I submit for reimbursement?
How long do I have to submit my superbill?
Please contact me to inquire about your insurance needs before our first session.
-
What if I have to cancel?
If you cancel less than 24 hours before our session you will be charged the full fee for that session.
What happens if I’m late to our session?
More than 15 minutes lateness constitutes a late cancellation and the session will not be held. It is important to have our full session time in order to adequately address your concerns and goals.
And what if the therapist has to cancel?
If I am severely ill, or have an emergency, I will inform you that I will be absent as soon as I can. I inform patients of my vacation or conference schedule at least a week in advance (typically earlier).
On rare occasion due to unavoidable situations (severe/dangerous weather, transportation issues, etc), in person sessions may be held virtually. This will be communicated 48 hours prior to session.
